1. Start the seedlings. Buy seed starter soil, moisten the mix and add two or three seeds. Cover with a thin layer of soil and place a cover on top. Keep them out of direct sunlight and watch them sprout over the span of 2-3 weeks. Mist frequently.
2. Pick the site. Transplant the peas in a spot with full sun which will produce pods with sweetness. Peas are vulnerable to root rot in soggy soils, so make sure your planting site can drain well. Raised beds are great for this - perfect for the urban farmer.
3. Sow seeds. Plant the seeds about one inch deep and two inches apart in rows. Water well. 
4. Set up a trellis - snap peas can grow up to 6 ft tall so they will need a support system. You can also use bamboo sticks or chicken wire to create your own. Snap peas can grow up to 6 ft tall!
5. Compost. Use a bit of compost, straw, or mulch to regulate the soil temperature.
6. Harvest. Look after your snap peas - they are usually ready within 6-8 weeks. Pick once the peas are swollen. Wait too long, and they'll lose their flavor. So don't be afraid to pick and try your peas!
